The early mornings feel different when I hear his tail wagging in the dark waiting for me to roll out of bed. There’s eagerness in his eyes while we set the spread and to him it probably feels like Christmas morning. The slow mornings are less slow and the barn burners feel like they have kerosene dumped onto them because I’ve got my buddy by my side and he lives for this just as much as I do. Watching Finn lock in on a deep mark, charge through the water, and come back with his chest puffed out and a greenhead in his mouth…it hits a place in your heart you didn’t know existed. It’s pride.
